Building the future of scalable automation: Augmentus × sentenso

How a joint shot-peening cell pairs sentenso's process expertise with Augmentus' adaptive path planning.

Shot peening is one of the harder finishing processes to automate. The recipe is sensitive — coverage, intensity, and angle of impingement all matter — and the parts that need peening are often the ones with the most geometric variation: turbine blades, landing gear, weldments destined for fatigue-critical assemblies.

sentenso GmbH, one of Europe's leading shot-peening solution providers, partnered with Augmentus to build turnkey cells that combine sentenso's decades of peening process knowledge with Augmentus' scan-driven path generation. The result is a cell that gets to first-good-part faster, then adapts as parts change.

How the integration works

sentenso brings the peening process — media selection, intensity calibration, almen control, fixturing. Augmentus brings the scan-to-path: an Augmentus Vision sensor captures each incoming part, the platform generates a peening toolpath that respects sentenso's process envelope, and a no-code recipe means operators (not programmers) run the cell.

For sentenso's customer base — predominantly DACH manufacturers with high-value, low-volume parts — this matters because the alternative is either fixturing each SKU at enormous expense or accepting hand-peening with the consistency variance that comes with it.

Where this goes next

The first installations are running in southern Germany, with joint go-to-market activities planned across DACH through 2026. For manufacturers evaluating shot-peening automation, the pairing offers a single-vendor deployment that combines proven peening hardware with the adaptive software layer.
