Release Notes
Version 3.0.0
What's New in Augmentus Version 3.0.0: April 2026 Update
This release significantly expands the platform's core capabilities across intelligent surface selection, edge-based path generation, adaptive path correction, flexible scanning architectures, and a new trial experience.
Key Enhancements and New Features
AutoAlign
Introducing a redesigned AutoAlign system to reduce setup complexity. Alignment no longer requires custom vision programs or heavy parameter tuning. Users simply define the reference object using the Scan for AutoAlign workflow. The system enhances deviation handling and mesh processing, with accuracy dependent on scan quality and configuration.
Enhanced Area Selection and AutoSurface Waypoint Generation
Improved auto selection algorithm for both CAD and scanned geometry. Scanned meshes, made up of thousands of tiny triangles, are now handled as coherent surfaces, making precise selection dramatically easier. Users can choose from two waypoint generation modes optimised for different surface types: Standard for general surfaces and Flat Surface for planar geometry. Coverage of selected areas is now more accurate with more reliable results, reducing the need for manual adjustment.
Improved AutoEdge Selection
AutoEdge now lets you click edges directly without needing to select the surrounding area first. The system automatically detects edge geometry, determines the edge type, and generates waypoints, all in one action. Select individual edges, closed loops, or edge groups with full waypoint count preview, ideal for precision welding and deburring applications.
STEP File Import
Augmentus now supports importing STEP files in addition to OBJ and STL formats. STEP files preserve native CAD geometry, enabling direct edge selection from the original design data and higher accuracy surface operations compared to mesh-based formats.
Fixed Mount Camera Support
Added support for stationary (fixed mount) snapshot cameras with eye-to-hand calibration for AutoAlign. You can switch between end-effector and fixed modes in the Loadout tab, expanding cell layout flexibility for production environments.
MoveC (Circular Motion)
Added support for MoveC across ABB, FANUC, KUKA, and UR robots. Apply it to curved sections in AutoGen modules for smoother, high-speed curved paths using true circular arcs instead of linear segments.
Augmentus Trial Now Available
Augmentus is now available as a downloadable trial for Windows. Sign up for a trial account, download, install, and evaluate the software on your own equipment with sample data or your own CAD files, with no on-site setup required.
Additional New Features
Hand-Eye Calibration (HEC)
HEC simplifies camera calibration by combining three separate tools into one automated workflow, allowing users to get accurate 3D scans. Available for ABB, FANUC, KUKA, and UR robots. HEC Validation automatically verifies calibration accuracy by analyzing registration across multiple scans, showing clear statistics to confirm your setup is production-ready.
Improved AutoScan Workflow
AutoScan now provides scan preview as you adjust settings, eliminating the need to generate and simulate paths to see results. Simplified scanning and stitching workflow with only essential settings displayed and template parameters that help you get desired scans with less effort. After completing a scan, navigate directly to the offline project scene or reuse the scan to adjust the scan path as required.
New Robot Integrations
Added support for Universal Robots CB3 series, enabling customers with older UR robots to use the platform without hardware upgrades. Also added support for FANUC CRX collaborative robots.
Approach and Retreat
Control how robots enter and exit auto-generated paths with clearer controls, custom speed settings, and angle-of-attack guidance for safer, more predictable motion.
Project Setup Improvements
Redesigned Project Setup with a thumbnail gallery for workpiece selection, automatic mesh organisation, and an intuitive 3-point calibration overlay with interactive point picking and live frame preview.
View Cube
A new View Cube in the 3D scene for quick access to standard views (Top, Front, Left, etc.), Zoom to Fit, Perspective/Orthographic toggle, and XYZ axis reference arrows.

Known Issues
|
Issue |
Workaround |
|---|---|
|
AutoPattern generated at TCP is not currently supported |
Select an area, then reposition using the gimbal |
|
AutoPattern generates waypoints automatically when entering the Movement tab |
Redundant preview generation only, no impact on data |
|
AutoScan project not saved when entering offline scene directly after receiving mesh |
Save the scan project before sending the script to the server |
|
AutoPattern X and Y extensions are swapped |
Use the opposite field |
|
AutoSurface negative Y path extension may not stay on mesh surface on curved meshes |
Under investigation |
